Remember this picture?

It’s a self portrait I took last summer and posted on this site. At posting I mentioned it was inspired by a movie. As I recall, a lot of people sent me an email or signed the guestbook with what movie they thought it was. As far as I remember, no one guessed it correctly and to the best of my recollection, I never told anyone what movie it came from.

A new reader recently asked what movie inspired the photo. (She also said it was driving her nuts trying to figure it out but I’m sure it’s not keeping her up at night.)

So here’s the deal. Since I didn’t tell anyone (to the best of my recollection anyway) what movie inspired the photograph, I’m going to run a little contest on my site.

The first person to correctly guess what movie inspired the self portrait will win a hardback copy of Skinny Dip by Carl Hiaasen. (I just finished reading it and thought it was great! The book still looks like new.)

If no one guesses the correct movie, I’ll mail the book to Mr. Sensitive who might be the only person out there who I told about the photo and who I know would get a kick out of reading the book.

The rules:

• If I did forgot (and it’s entirely possible – just ask Marathon Girl about my memory of late) that I told a bunch of you the answer or posted the answer on my site, this contest is off. Sorry but I can’t have thousands of people expecting me to send them a book can I?


• I will accept guesses through midnight March 27, 2005


• Guesses can be submitted in the guestbook or via email.


• There is no limit to the number of movies you can guess. However, if I receive a long list say with more than 20 movies, I may not read them all.


• Rules are subject to change at my discretion and without notice

Some hints:

• The movie was made in the last 10 years.


• It is not a foreign film.


• It is not one of the movies listed my profile.
