Aidan: The good, the bad, the ugly.

The Good: Filed my tax returns on Saturday. Boy was I surprised to realize how much kids are worth. I knew about the $1,000 dollar tax credit per child but, wow, it didn’t realize how much of a difference it would make on the Federal tax return until I filed. Cha-ching!

I wonder how Marathon Girl feels about triplets?*

(* I do not recommend or advocate having kids simply to get a bigger tax refund. Kids are a lot of work and no amount of money can compensate. Yes, I know that some people have children to increase the amount of welfare they receive from the government but this is just as wrong as having children to for tax refund purposes. IMHO If you’re going to have children, it better be because you want a family and are willing to put in all your mental and physical strength into raising them. At this time I don’t think Marathon Girl and I could handle twins let alone triplets.)

The Bad: I hurt my back on Sunday. At first I wasn’t sure how it had happened. The last time I lifted weights was Saturday morning and my back felt fine when I was done. Yesterday it dawned on me that Aidan was the most likely culprit. He was being a little hellion during the last hour of church so I took him out in the hall where he wouldn’t disturb anyone. To make a long story short, I had to keep picking him up off the floor so he wouldn’t get into trash cans. I think I must have lifted him wrong or something one of the times I went to pick him up. Ouch!

I lifted weights this morning though concentrating on exercises that would help my arms and chest and managed to avoid further injury to my back. I just hope it heals soon. Ibuprofen only goes so far to dull the pain.

The Ugly: Today Marathon Girl took Aidan in for his nine month exam. Aidan checked out to be in the ninety-fifth percentile height wise and in the fiftieth percentile weight wise. If he keeps this tall, skinny thing going, he’s going to look a lot like his dad. Our only concern was a small growth on one of his index fingers. The doctor didn’t seem to think it was anything serious but recommended we take him to a specialist just to be on the safe side. I hope it turns out to be nothing.

Happy Tuesday all. The whistle just blew. I’m heading home!
