The calm before the storm and a two year anniversary
2004-12-07 5:33 p.m.

For the first time in weeks it was actually above freezing when I ran this morning. The only problem was that I was so used to freezing weather that I overdressed and had to shed clothes by the second mile. Lucky I ran when I did. About an hour after I arrived at work, the wind started blowing like crazy and the snow started falling. Marathon Girl had a 10 mile pace run scheduled for this afternoon. Fortunately her mom was at home and Marathon Girl was able to use her treadmill. Running on treadmills – especially for runs longer than 30 minutes – is fairly tedious. However, when you have a raging snow storm outside it makes it easier.

It was two years ago today I got down on one knee and asked Marathon Girl to marry me. Much to my surprise, she said yes.

OK it wasn’t a surprise. I was 99.5 percent sure she’d say yes.

Two years later, I love her even more now than I did that day. The good and the bad we’ve experienced the last two years have brought us closer than I ever thought possible.

She is my perfect compliment. I can’t imagine life without her.

Marathon Girl just called. I guess there’s over six inches of snow at our place and she can’t get the car in the driveway due to snowy, slick conditions.

I’m off to shovel snow and save the day!
