Election day 2004
2004-11-03 9:20 a.m.

We waited in line for an hour in the cold. to vote yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve ever had to wait in line more than a couple of minutes to vote. Aidan seemed to enjoy watching everyone in line. The cold didn’t seem to bother him (probably because Marathon Girl bundled him up really good). The kid simply enjoys being outside more than inside.

I stayed up until 1:30 this morning watching the election returns. I wanted to stay up late enough to be reasonably certain who won the presidential election. In 2000 I went to bed thinking Bush had won only to have my first wife wake me two hours later telling me what was going on in Florida. I ended up not being able to sleep the rest of the night. When it because apparent that Bush was going to take Ohio I turned off the TV and slept for a few hours only to wake up again to see if anything had changed. Then before I left work this morning I watched some more news and listened to the radio.

I haven’t been this much of a political junky in at least three years. It was a side of me that Marathon Girl hasn’t seen. She was more than ready to go to bed at 10:30 and was surprised when I told her I had to stay up and watch more. She also had a big To Do list for me to start on last night and I didn’t even start with all the election stuff on TV. (Sorry sweetie! I’ll really work hard on getting it all done tonight!)

This just in...it looks like Kerry is going to concede the race sparing the nation another Florida-style recount in Ohio.

Well back to the news sites and work...and no, I’m not telling anyone how I voted.
