Aidan's better, ghost artilce done, home ownership
2004-10-15 10:22 a.m.

Whatever was wrong with Aidan’s sleeping habits seems to have taken care of itself. He’s settled down quite nicely and is back through his routine of sleeping through the night. I’m beginning to suspect it had to do with the new house and the new sounds, smells, and sights that come with adjusting to a new place to live.

Part of me wonders how different our apartment and home could really be to an almost five month old baby. At the same time, I don’t want to underestimate his intelligence. Every day he amazes me with how much he’s learning and how smart he really is. Just last week, for example, he started playing with toys that the day before were too complicated for him to play with or understand. Now he’s practically sitting up by himself and becoming much better with his hands. When Marathon Girl took him shopping on Wednesday, he kept trying to grab things off the shelves. It’s been fun to watch him change even if he seems less like a baby and more and more like a little boy.

I’ve finished the ghost article I was writing for one of the executives at work to rave reviews from the supervisor and others. (That’s always a good thing.) Now it’s time to hunker down for the next four weeks until our industry’s biggest trade show. After that things slow down until the first of the year. My big task: I’m the project manager who’s trying to coordinate everything to have a functioning supercomputer for the tradeshow that will highlight some of our programs and success. Yikes!

I’m glad today’s Friday. I can’t wait to head home and spend the week with Marathon Girl and Aidan. Marathon Girl has a 16 mile run tomorrow and I’m looking forward to helping her. Then we’re unpacking the last of the few remaining boxes and I’m fixing a few minor things with the house. Oh the joys of home ownership!

Have a great weekend!
