Sleeping through the night, Spiderman 2, smiling babies
2004-07-12 9:40 a.m.
We went to bed a little after 11. The next thing we both knew sunlight was streaming through the windows and Aidan was crying softly in the next room. “What time is it?” Marathon Girl said. “A little after six,” I said. “I can’t remember when I last fed him,” Marathon Girl said as she headed toward the crib. It took us both a minute to realize that Aidan had slept through the entire night! He was very hungry but once he started eating, he calmed right down and slept for several more hours. We both hoped it would start a trend. Unfortunately he was back to his old habits of waking up every three or four hours the next night. Still, it was nice to have one night of uninterrupted sleep. *** Stop what you’re doing and go see Spiderman 2. I was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of the film. The writing was great, the acting superb, the characters were real and believable, and the effects seamless. By far the best move I’ve seen in a long, long time. Much better than the first one and, as far as I’m concerned, it sets the standard for comic book based movies. It’s such a rarity to have action/adventure movie with characters (both good and bad) that you actually care about. Alfred Gough (Smallville), Miles Millar, (Smallville) and Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay) are the perfect writers for taking a comic book and adapting it for the big screen. I hope they team up and write the third movie. *** Marathon Girl and I decided to take Aidan with us to see Spiderman 2. I was a little nervous about doing it simply because movies are loud and there’s nothing that annoys me more than a crying baby in a movie theatre. However, one of Marathon Girl’s sisters said that when she used to take her baby to the movie theatre, she’s put cotton balls in her sons ears and put a hat on his head to keep the cotton in place. She said she never had a problem with her son waking up during a movie. I was hesitant about the whole thing but agreed to try it once. It worked great. Aidan slept through the entire movie. *** Aidan’s to the point where he’s smiling all the time at people. Nothing warms my heart more than coming home and talking to him and having him smile upon hearing my voice. *** Busy week ahead. Lots to write about in the coming days. Stay tuned.
