Random Thoughts II

Recently much ado has made over the movie Supersize Me – a documentary about the filmmaker eating nothing but McDonald's for an entire month. Now everyone is lauding the filmmaker as a “genius” for discovering that eating nothing but fast food will lead to weight gain and/or obesity. Eating any type of food in large quantities can lead to weight gain. People who want to lose weight would be surprised how many pounds they could shed by simply eating less. Along a similar line, a local man recently become upset when a buffet restaurant asked him to leave after his 12th trip to the roast beef tray because they were running out of roast beef. Upon leaving the restaurant, the man’s first reaction was to call the press and say how "unfairly" he was untreated. What I don’t understand is how someone could actually admit they are pig and a glutton to the public and show no shame or remorse about it. After a 5-1 start, the Detroit Tigers have struggled recently. Their record currently stands at 19-19 and are four games out of first place. Still this is the first time in years I’ve enjoyed following their day-to-day progress. Considering how weak their division is, I’m still hopeful they can make the playoffs. The other day a friend asked if I was ready to be a dad. I told him there’s nothing anyone can do to prepare themselves to be a dad (or mom) other than jumping right into things as soon as the baby arrives. Few things excite me more than receiving a package from Amazon.com filled with books. I’ve never understood why people who have college degrees feel they have to be employed in the field in which they studied. To succeed in the real world, one needs to change along with the job market. My current job duties are nothing close to what I studied in school and I find that I’m enjoying my current responsibilities a lot more. Marathon Girl always keeps herself busy by doing things for others. Consequently I’ve never known her to be depressed or feel sorry for herself. There are two types of people in this world: Those who complain about life being unfair and those who work hard to change it. For those who were expecting a baby update, here it is: We head to the hospital tomorrow morning.
